Aland joined FDC in 2021 with extensive experience in the realms of sustainable landscape management and horticulture. For almost 8 years he managed a team of 24 landscape professionals at a 250-acre private ranch in San Anselmo, where he oversaw an intricate dance of permaculture gardens, fire trail maintenance and sprawling orchards – including the hands-on management of rotating collections from international sculpture artists, where he worked with clients and sculptors to source unique materials, construct full-scale mock-ups, and navigate their delicate placement within the gardens.

During his studies at UC Berkeley he worked as a horticulturist at the UC Botanical Garden, where he managed plant collections and led the creation of unique landscapes that are still thriving today. He has owned and operated his own landscape design/build business in the east bay, spent years honing his skills in tree pruning, and cultivated a profound love and understanding of plants and our place among them.

Aland brings his passion for art, nature, and sustainable living to everything he does. Outside of work you can find him basking on the beaches in Point Reyes, foraging in the woods, and creating wild and delicious meals for his family and community.
